The South East European Film Festival’s 11 edition will be coming to Hollywood on April 28th through May 5th 2016. SeeFest, www.seefilmla.org, as it is know to its fans, focuses on bringing those gems from South Eastern European nations. Some who may have only a couple of films produced yearly. At times, one filmmaker may be representing the industry of their nation.

This year’s opening night film will be “Our Everyday Life,” written and directed by Ines Tanovic, the Bosnia’s official submission to the 2016 Oscar Foreign Language Oscar consideration. The Executive Director and Founder, Vera Mijojlic is very excited about this female driven film. As she scours the world for the best films to bring to this year’s programming, she feels this story is a great find. Vera explains; “It’s a film that shows ordinary people in not so ordinary circumstances and how they manage to not fall apart in spite of the problems that they are facing.”

 

Documentary Programmer, Jon Marquis, is particularly enamored of all the choices; “I hate to play favorites, but some timely ones that put a human face on global issues include ‘The Empty Room’ from Jasna Krajinovic, ‘Taste of Home’ from Martina Globocnik and ‘Logbook_Serbistan’ by Zelimir Zilnik.”

As the festival approaches the opening night, there is a tremendous amount of buzz and excitement as it prepares to host some filmmakers from the region, South East Europe. Some of the other events at the festival includes the annual Business Conference, the See Pro Project Accelerator, a new project that focuses on supporting the work of filmmakers that are have projects ready for packaging.
