Chicano filmmakers to showcase works at festival

The award-winning documentary “Dolores” about farm worker leader Dolores Huerta is among the films screening at this year’s Chicano International Film Festival this weekend in Los Angeles. The festival will take place at Saturday Nov. 11 from 10 am to 11:30 pm at Plaza de la Raza in the community of Lincoln Height. Among the films premiering at CHIFF 2017 are “En Paz Descanse,” “Here in the East,” and “They Call Me Tiger King,” according to the festival’s official website. Central American film fest in Hollywood

The third annual Central American International Film Festival takes place in Hollywood Nov. 3 through 5. Created to showcase works about Central American struggles, history, culture, and talent, the CAIFF will feature nearly 30 films in various categories such as full features, shorts, documentaries, student works and a specific division for U.S. Latino works. It will also feature performances, art exhibits, workshops and question-and-answer sessions with filmmakers. The festival was by founded in 2015 by Oscar Domínguez and Juan Carlos Bojórquez.
